Alvin Bernard Whitlow, 93, of Blackstone, VA went to be with the Lord on February 5, 2026. He was the son of the late Henry Othello Whitlow and Beulah Daniel Whitlow and brother of the late Henry O. Whitlow, Jr., Lucius Whitlow and Mattie Virginia Tucker. He is survived by his devoted wife of 69 years, Frances Mull Whitlow; his son, Michael W. Whitlow (Kathryn); grandchildren, Jason S. Whitlow (Holly) and Daniel P. Whitlow (Brooke); great-granddaughters, Caroline and Lilly and great-grandsons, Rhys and John; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was especially close to nieces Jackie, Jamie and Joni. Alvin grew up on a tobacco farm in Danieltown, Va. He graduated from Alberta High School and proudly and honorably served our country in the US Army. He retired as a cutter after many years of service at Levi-Strauss and later worked several years in the produce section at Walmart in Blackstone. He enjoyed keeping a clean yard and he kept up the New Hope Christian Church Cemetery for many years. He dearly loved his family and being a part of the Danieltown Community. He was an active member of the New Hope Christian Church, where he sang in the choir, and where funeral services will be held 2PM Tuesday, February 10, 2026. Burial with military honors to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday, February 9, 2026 from 6 to 7:30PM at the Clarke Funeral Home in Kenbridge.
