Betty Jean Wrigglesworth Clarke

Colonial Heights, Va

Betty Jean Wrigglesworth Clarke passed away at the age of 88 on August 9, 2025 in Colonial Heights, Virginia. She was born to John and Margaret Wrigglesworth on June 27, 1937, in Victoria, Virginia.

She married James Thomas Clarke on January 18, 1958. They were married for almost 67 years and had two sons together – Clayvern Carson "Toy" Clarke and Turner Regan Clarke. From 1966 until her retirement in 1997, she worked as a mail clerk at Kenner Army Hospital in Fort Lee.

Throughout her life, Betty Jean was known as a loving wife and mother as well as devoted grandmother and great-grandmother. Her family fondly remembers her to be the most loyal, devoted person; spending most of her time spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In her free time, she enjoyed going to yard sales, farmers markets, or borrowing books from the library where all the workers knew her on a first name basis. Her family was truly her pride and joy, and she left a hole in the hearts of those who loved her with her passing.

Betty Jean Clarke was preceded in death by her husband, James Thomas Clarke; her sister, Edwina Garrett and a brother, Jimmy Wrigglesworth. She is  survived by their sons, Clayvern Carson "Toy" Clarke and his wife, Tammy Cooper Clarke and Turner Regan Clarke and his wife, Jody Davis Clarke, her grandchildren-Autumn Blair Cook and her husband Cody Cook, Audra Lynne Antich and her husband Tony Antich, Carson Thomas Clarke and his wife Emily Clarke, Caleb Cooper Clarke and his wife Isa Clarke, and her great-grandchildren Chase Santiago Clarke, Travis Wade Cook, Skylar Elise Antich, Kevin Sebastian Clarke, Cooper Carson Clarke, Mia Annelise Clarke, and Beckham Slade Antich; and brother, Wayne Wrigglesworth (Sue).
