Chris Gordon Thompson, 62, of Portsmouth, Virginia, went home to be with his family in Heaven on October 18, 2025. He was the son of the late James G. Thompson Sr. and Hazel Daniel Thompson.
Chris is survived by his son, Chris Thompson of Norfolk; his sisters, Sylvia Sledge (Steven) of Portsmouth and Cheryl Rush (Larry) of Chesapeake; his brothers, James Thompson Jr. of Portsmouth, and Kevin Thompson (Bridgett) of Portsmouth; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who loved him dearly.
Chris grew up in Chesapeake, Virginia, and attended Western Branch High School. From a young age, he loved fishing, riding and racing motorcycles — it was one of his greatest joys.
He was a talented self-employed contractor who could build just about anything. Chris was also an avid coin collector and a man who always found time to lend a hand to others. He’ll be remembered for his corny jokes, his big heart, his love for his family, and his famous tendency to never be on time.
Graveside services will be held at Westview Cemetery in Farmville, Virginia on Saturday, November 1, at 11:30AM.
Forever loved, forever missed, and never forgotten.
“Those we love don’t go away,
They walk beside us every day.
Unseen, unheard, but always near —
Still loved, still missed, and forever dear.”
