Constance Joan Paradise

Constance Joan Paradise, born on June 29, 1932, in Portland, Oregon, a beloved pillar of her family and community, passed away August 3, 2026. She was the cherished daughter of Andrew and Josephine Lucille Hunt Goodenough, who instilled in her the values of kindness and resilience.

Constance married William Paradise in September of 1951. She was the proud mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother of a large and loving family that was the center of her life. She is survived by her children, Tiana Phillips, William Paradise, (Suzan), Sandra Mathews (Randy), Mary Jo Haslbeck (Rick), Stephanie Brown (Jerold); grandchildren, Jennifer, Michele, Echo, Bianca, Lydia, Zachary, Jessica, Benjamin, Stefanie, Alexis and Alexandra; great-grandchildren, Emily, Maddie, Logan, Cooper, Rex, Avery, Devin, Olivia, Teagan, Tiana, CJ, Branica, Peyton, Max, Teddy, Kayden, Aiylah, Oakleigh, Drex, Adelynn, Dakota and Nolan; great-great grandchildren, Maxwell, Jaxon and Paisley.

Constance’s life has been rich with love and companionship. She shared a beautiful marriage with William Paradise, beginning in Portland, Oregon and continuing through their shared journey to Baltimore, Maryland where they raised a lively family of five children. Their years together were filled with love, laughter and delightful chaos that only a large family can bring. Later, they relocated to the serene surroundings of Victoria, VA. where they enjoyed the rest of their lives.

A woman of many talents, Constance found joy in painting and sketching, capturing the world around her with a creative spirit. Her love for travel, especially to the beach, allowed her to explore new places and meet new people, something she cherished deeply. Music also played an important role in her life, providing a soundtrack to her many adventures. Constance had an extraordinary ability to connect with people. Her genuine interest in others and her knack for listening made her a beloved friend to many. Whether in a grocery store checkout line or in the comfortable halls of Hickory Hill Retirement Community, where she was affectionately voted “Most Comical” two years in a row, Constance was always ready with a smile and a story. Her warmth and humor were a comfort to staff a residents alike.

Her dear friends, including Sonia Kesterson Walker, Gail Hernderson, Mildred Gardner, and the loving staff at Hickory Hill Retirement Community, have been an important part of her life, sharing in both the joys and sorrows.

Constance’s life is a testament to the power of love, family, and friendship. While a private ceremony will honor her life, those wishing to honor her memory are encouraged to donate to a charity of their choice, in keeping with her generous spirit.

Though predeceased by her parents, her husband "Bill", a son Theodore “Teddy” Paradise, her sister Mary Jo Hanson, and her brothers Ted and David Goodenough. Constance’s legacy lives on through her family and the countless lives she has touched. Her memory will Forever be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
