Edward Ellery Dobbs

Edward Ellery “Ed” Dobbs, 77, of Drakes Branch, and formerly of Upper Darby, Pennsylvania went to join his family in Heaven on October 27, 2025. He was the son of the late Albert Edward Dobbs and Eris Pearl Cowing Dobbs and brother of the late Alvin Gene Dobbs. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Janet Lynn Dobbs; his children, Elizabeth Lynn Dobbs Gapp (Scott), Edward Stoudt Dobbs (Janice), and Patricia Eris Dobbs; his grandchildren, Edward “EJ” Dobbs, Jr., Matthew Dobbs, Samantha Dobbs, Nora Boyle, Vincent Boyle, Maureen Boyle, and Eris Boyle; and, great-granddaughter, Iris Rose Wdowik. Ed graduated from Methacton High School in Eagleville, Pennsylvania, class of 1967. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy. He worked for many years as a shop planner and estimator for the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard. He enjoyed hunting, working on cars, being outside, and shooting guns. He will always be remembered for his love of reading maps and the love he had for his family. The family will receive friends at the Staples Funeral Home, 2300 Nottoway Blvd, Victoria, Va. on Sunday, Nov. 2, 2025 from 6 to 8PM. Funeral services with military honors will be held 1PM Monday, Nov. 3, 2025 at the Amelia Veterans Cemetery, 10300 Pridesville Road, Amelia, Va.
