James Franklin Loftis

James Franklin Loftis, 87, of Meherrin, VA and formerly of Amelia, VA joined his family in Heaven on May 13, 2023. He was the son of the late Richard Franklin Loftis and Connie Powell Loftis Baldwin; husband of the late, Eleanor Clark Loftis; and brother of the late, Virginia Loftis Gibbs. He is survived by his daughters, Betty L. Maxey (Jimmy) of Elko, VA, Nancy L. Stegall of Meherrin and Anita L. Decker of Summitville, TN; his son, Warren E. Loftis; He was Papa to Jimmy Maxey, Jr. (Melissa), J. Harold Moore, Jr., Jennifer Garretson (Jason), Rebecca Hensley (Fonze), Michelle L. Maxey, Jason R. Maxey (Carmela), Christopher Maxey, Jennifer Shorter (Charles), Brandy Tucker (Jay), Benjamin D. Jones (Tracy), Christopher Scott Jones (Sheila), Joseph Green, Jeffrey Johnson, Thomas Johnson (Ashley), James Loftis, III and Lillian Brown (Alex); numerous great-grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren and his nieces and nephews. James served our country in the U.S. Army. He retired from VDOT as an operator after 35 years of service. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. The family will receive friends Monday, May 15, 2023 from 6 to 8PM at the Clarke Funeral Home in Kenbridge where funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at 2PM.
