Judith Blackburn Mason

January 25, 1938 — September 9, 2025

Victoria

Beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Judith (Judy) Blackburn Mason passed away peacefully on September 9, 2025, at the age of 87.

Born on January 23, 1938 to John and Catharine Blackburn, Judy married the love of her life, Ronald Lee “Bunk” Mason, who survives her, in 1958. Together they built a home filled with warmth, gardening, books, and music, and raised four children — Connie Mason Moss of Blackstone, Susan Mason, who the family lost in 2016, Catharine Mason of Normandy, France, and Ronnie Mason (Crystal) of Crewe.

Judy was a proud grandmother to Colin Moss, Sam Moss, Luke Moss, Cory Moss, Donovan Butez, Cheyenne Butez, T.J. Mason, and Katie Mason Williams, Colter Womack, and Rose Womack Boyd— each of whom brought her a special joy.

In later years, Judy returned to school and earned a degree in psychology and sociology from Mary Baldwin College, which became the foundation of a meaningful career as a social worker. She dedicated her work to helping Lunenburg youth and supporting Southside Virginia seniors returning to the workforce, offering guidance and compassion that touched many lives.

A devoted member of the Episcopal Church, Judy was active in the congregations of Victoria, where she faithfully served as organist, and later in Blackstone, where she continued to contribute to the life of the church community.

Judy will be remembered for her steadfast faith, her generosity of spirit, and her grounded, common-sense wisdom.

Please join the family in celebrating Judy's life on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at 1PM at the St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 424 S. Main Street, Blackstone, Va. 23824.

In lieu of flowers please consider donations to the Lunenburg Health Services, P.O. Box 121, Victoria, Virginia 23974 in memory of Judy Mason
