Kathryn Barnes Whitlow

Kathryn “Kitty” Barnes Whitlow, 75, of Hurt, Virginia, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2025. Born on August 28, 1950, in Lunenburg County, she was the daughter of the late Hardy and Mariam Barnes. She was also preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Ned and Connie Barnes, and her beloved aunt, Kathryn Gray. 

Kitty is survived by her devoted husband of 55 years, Ronnie Whitlow; their daughter, Kim Quinn and husband Keith; and grandchildren Casey Ramirez, married to Corazon, with daughter Ana, and Joshua Quinn, married to Macey, with children Dawson, Adeline, and Jameson. She is also survived by their son, Jeremy Whitlow, his son Ayden Whitlow, and close family friend Amanda Phipps. Kitty’s sister, Nancy Baldwin, and husband Bill Baldwin, also mourn her passing.                        

Kitty found joy in life’s simple pleasures—her love of animals, peaceful drives through the countryside, and her fascination with the weather. She became well known among her family for sending weather alerts, a gesture that reflected both her attentiveness and her care. Above all, Kitty treasured her family and maintained close bonds with her many cousins, who held a special place in her heart. 

In lieu of flowers please consider donations in memory of “Kitty” Whitlow to your local SPCA or to the American Cancer Society. A graveside service to celebrate Kitty’s life will be held 3PM Thursday, December 4, 2025 at the Kenbridge Heights Cemetery.
