Kathy Grant Coffee
March 17, 1959 – August 16, 2023

Kathy joined her parents, Waverly and Betty Phillips, in Heaven on August 16, 2023, after a short battle with cancer. Kathy is survived by her husband of 44 years, William “Billy” Coffee, three children: Hannah C. Guarino (Brian) of Dinwiddie, Grant Coffee (Jessica) of King William, and Gill Coffee (Kelly) of Victoria; five grandchildren: Sarah and Hailey Coffee, Benjamin Guarino, and Emma and Helen Coffee; a God son, seven brothers and sisters, their spouses, and a wealth of nieces, nephews, and close friends.
Kathy is known as a friend to all and enjoyed serving her community as a bookkeeper and tax preparer since 1984. She owned and ran Coffee’s Tax Service and Coffee’s Custom Embroidery. Kathy, and her husband, started Coffee Farms in 1979 in Kenbridge raising tobacco and the farm is now a full grain and cattle operation. Kathy has served on the Lunenburg County Farm Bureau Women’s Committee for 40+ years, and was recently the Virginia Farm Bureau Women’s Committee District Chair. She also Co-Chaired the Virginia State Young Farmer’s Committee for many years and was Farm Women of the Year in 1989. Kathy served on the Agriculture Council for the State of Virginia at the pleasure of the Governors for 20+ years. She was the Hounds Creek Lunenburg County School Board representative since 2008, and most recently held the School Board Chair position. She also was the CHS Booster Treasurer for 15 years, current member of the Arrowhead Gun Club Board of Directors, and a member of Mercy Outreach Fellowship Church.
Kathy loved to spend time on the farm and with her family. She enjoyed feeding her pet donkeys apples, driving the tractor to plant soybeans, picking tomatoes and blackberries, pickling sweet pickles, and hosting all of her family and friends for Sunday dinners every week. Kathy also loved spending time at Lake Gaston with family and more recently riding the Slingshot with her husband, traveling with the Soldiers of Mercy Motorcycle Ministry.
Kathy grew up in Dundas, graduated from Central High School (CHS) and Southside VA Community College. Kathy was a lifelong resident of Lunenburg and forever a Charger Fan.
May all those who loved her take comfort in knowing she was never afraid. Her faith is abundant and her heart even larger. There has and will always be, power, wonder working power in her blood.
The family will receive friends Friday, August 18, 2023 from 6:30 to 8:00 pm at the Clarke Funeral Home in Kenbridge, VA. Graveside funeral services will be held Saturday, August 19, 2023, 10:00am at Jonesboro Baptist Church, 1955 Jonesboro Church Road, Blackstone, VA 23824
