Lorraine Walba-Zammett (Laurie), 73, of Victoria was reunited with family and friends in heaven on July 10th, 2026. She was predeceased by her mother, Johanna Chaplin, 3 brothers, and 2 sisters.
Laurie is survived by her husband David Zammett, her daughter Christine Duffer (Mac) of Kenbridge, and step-son David Bergan of Salisbury, MA. She leaves two beautiful granddaughters, Mikayla Ray of Kenbridge and Brianna Bergan of New Hampshire. She is also survived by two brothers, Warren and Joe Chaplin, special cousins Mary Schovanec (Billy) of Everett, MA, and John Desimone (Cheryl) of Bridgewater, MA, and so many other loving cousins, nieces and nephews, and her cat, Sissy.
Laurie was born in Boston, Massachusetts on March 3, 1953, and worked as a machinist. She moved to Virginia in 2002. She went to college in her 50s and became a nurse, and worked at PGH for 15 years until her recent retirement. She loved those closest to her with all of her heart. She loved the beach, traveling, and most importantly spending time with family. She made the best chicken soup coined “get over being sick soup." She will be sorely missed.
Laurie had a big heart and an affinity for performing random acts of kindness, both for people she knew and for complete strangers. In lieu of flowers, to honor Laurie in a world where you can be anything, simply be kind.
