Peggy

Peggy Hipps Townsend, 68, of Victoria, VA went to be with the Lord on July 15, 2026. She was preceded in death by her husband David Lee Townsend and infant daughter Crystal Townsend. She was the oldest of five children born to the late Berkley and Pauline Hipps.

She is survived by her son Grayson Alexander Townsend (Katelyn); grandson, Alex Townsend all of Victoria; siblings, Joyce Lacks of Chase City, Scotty Hipps (Mary) of Henderson, NC, Lena Hipps-Clarke (Clarence) of Victoria and John Hipps (Marta) of South Hill; She is also survived by six nieces and six nephews that she dearly loved and helped in any way she could; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews and extended family and friends.

Peggy grew up in Chase City and graduated from Bluestone High School. She worked for many years in the produce section at Walmart in Blackstone. She enjoyed arts and crafts but the greatest joy of her life was Alex, her grandson, whom she dearly loved.

From the words of Peggy months before she was called home. Thank you to my family and friends for the support that I have had all of my life. I would like to thank Allen and Sandra Herndon for all they have done for me and my family. I would like to thank Nancy, Sharon and Deloris who I thought of as sisters. Also, I would like to thank Emmitt and Michael for showing me unconditional love. Thanks to Pastor Tabitha for praying with me, bible study, and visits. This meant so much to me.

The family would like to thank the Woodlands staff, Fresenius Kidney Center staff and DRT. We appreciate all the love and support that was provided to Peggy during her illness.

Graveside funeral services will be held 11AM Friday, July 17, 2026 at the Cool Springs Christian Church, 2852 Ontario Road, Keysville, VA 23947. In lieu of flowers please consider memorial donations to the Victoria Fire and Rescue, P.O. Box 1419, Victoria, VA 23974.
