Rachel Adelade Powell Tench, 85, of Kenbridge, Va joined her family in Heaven on May 15, 2025. She was born July 13, 1939 to the late, Phillip Gardner Powell, Sr. and Julia Samko Powell. She was also preceded in death by her sister and best friend, Nancy Stanley; brother, “Boogie” Phillip Powell, Jr.; her grandson, Ched Bungard; granddaughter-in-law, Jessica Tench; dear friend, Doris Jones Shields, and many other loved ones. She is survived by her children, Trina Bungard (Ron) of Scottsdale, PA, John Tench, Jr of New Jersey, Merrill Tench (Patsy) of Prince George, VA, Keith Tench (Stephanie) of Kenbridge, VA and Lorelie Phillips (Paul) of Danieltown, VA; 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild, her brother, Raymond A. Powell (Patty) of Hopewell, VA; nieces, nephews extended family and friends. Rachael enjoyed many things in her life. She was a member of the Daughters of Confederacy, The Daughters of the American Revolution, and The Colonial Dames. She did Civil War Reenactments with the 27th Jackson Division. She was a Sunday School teacher and treasurer for the Ebenezer Presbyterian Church. All of this was accomplished after retiring from Honeywell B-Plant, where she was a Chemical Lab Tech for 37 years. Rachael loved to read her bible, work in her flower garden, crochet and knit. She made many beautiful blankets and no two were alike. She also made many piggies for her loved ones. Most of all Rachael enjoyed being with her family. She will always be remembered for her dedication to her family and to the Lord. A celebration of Rachael’s life will be held 11AM Saturday, May 24, 2025 at the Ebenezer Presbyterian Church in Kenbridge.
