Ray Elmer Scott

Ray Elmer Scott, 80, of Lunenburg County, Virginia went to be with the Lord on September 29, 2026. He was surrounded by the love of his life for 50 years, Pamela Lacks Scott. 

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Kenneth Ray “Kenny” Scott (Brian), his daughter, Jessica S. McCormick (Jeff Lacks); beloved granddaughter, Kirstyn McCormick; his brother, Donnie Scott; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Ray grew up in Lunenburg, the son of the late Andrew Paul Scott and Lucille Hinkle Scott; he was a brother of the late, Robert Amos Scott, Elizabeth Amos, Catherine Holt and Dolly Brobst; and father-in-law of the late, Guy Samuel "Buckshot" McCormick, Jr. 

Ray started his working career at Railway Handle Corporation in Kenbridge, he then worked at Scovill Industries in Victoria as a Dryer and retired as a custodian for the Lunenburg County Public School System where he enjoyed being around the children.

Ray enjoyed fishing, hunting and helping others. He never met a stranger and loved to see others smile.

The family would like to thank Amedisys Hospice for all of their love and support.

He was a member of Cool Springs Christian Church, 2852 Ontario Road, Keysville, VA, where funeral services will be held Friday, October 2, 2026 at 2PM with interment in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Staples Funeral Home, Victoria on Thursday, October 1, 2026 from 6 – 8PM.
